Athletics Update-gym photo with all sports represented

-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports:                             Good Day Everyone! Our  winter sports regular season has begun and here is a look at how they have performed so far:

Our Winter Track & Field Team kicked off the Winter season last Friday against 35 of the best teams in the state at the SJTCA Winter Meet #1.  The following athletes placed in the top 20 of their listed events:

  • Keronja Watson 12th in the 55 hurdles 
  • Anna Rosica 14th in the 55 hurdles 
  • Madison Grimes 19th in the 55 hurdles 
  • 4 X 200 team of Keronja, Natasha, Natalie, and Maura 14th 
  • Kirsi Muracco 9th in High Jump with a personal best jump 
  • Maura Russell 16th in the High jump 
  • Zaria Welch 18th in Shot Put 
  • Olivia Lynch 19th in Shot Put 
  • Colin Broadbelt 5th in the 800 
  • Patrick Broadbelt 13th in 800 
  • Abdul Iyiola 5th in Hurdles and 2nd in 400 
  • Alex Lopez and Michael Kozlowski tied for 16th place in the Pole Vault 
  • Joe Barben 13th in Shot Put 

The Girls Basketball Team opened up their 2023-2024 season with a 71-13 thrashing of Willingboro HS.  The girls had 4 players in double figures led by Cadence Anderson’s 19 points.  Anna Paszkiewicz, Ava Sims and Jada Coefield-Elie each added 10 points in the victory.  The 1-0 Lady Panthers play Riverside next.

The Boys Wrestling Team opened their season at Pennsville on Thursday with a 58-24 loss. The Panthers got pins from Trevor Young and Aidan Hines as well as forfeit wins by Pat Daly and Deakon Haines.  The boys traveled to Gateway High School for the Gator Invitational Tournament on Saturday.  Trevor Young and Pat Daly captured 2nd place at the tournament while Stephen Hankey brought home a 3rd place finish.

The Girls Wrestling Team traveled to Jackson Liberty High School on Saturday to compete in the Queen of the East Tournament.  Congrats to Samantha Domask on capturing the championship in her weight class!  

     

The Boys Basketball Team opened their season with a tough loss to Florence High School on Thursday, 40-38.  John Latimore led the offense with 12 points and Sam Adams added 10 points.  The Panthers next game travels to KIPP Norcross Charter High School.

=======================M I D D L E   S C H O O L=========================== 

The Middle School Boys Basketball Team lost 34-10 to Maple Shade.  JJ Moran and Alex Kahana had 3 points while Adrian Peralta and Jack Vitale added 2 points.  The middle school boys lost to Foundations Charter on Friday 44-18.  JJ Moran led the scoring with 9 points.  The boys will return to play on Wednesday against Maple Shade.

The Middle School Girls Basketball Team crushed Hainesport on Wednesday 30-7.  Az-Zahra Pollard led all scorers with 22 points to lead the Lady Panthers.  The girls will also return to play on Wednesday against Maple Shade.
