Athletics Update -stadium photo with flags FEATURING cross country teams

-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports:                               Happy Monday Morning Everyone!  Here is a look at how our student-athletes performed last week:

Congratulations to the Boys’ Cross Country Team of Colin Broadbelt, Jimmy Crean, Aidan Hines, Carter May, TJ Peltz, Owen Jacobs, John Timlin and Sam Wence for their victories against New Egypt and Riverside on Tuesday. The Boys team is now 2 and 1 on the season. On the Girl's side Cadence Anderson placed 3rd in the race running her fastest time ever on the course. Great job everybody!

The Boys Soccer Team had a 2-0 week.  The boys defeated Group 4 Northern Burlington on Monday, 3-1.  Luke Cannuli scored twice including the game winner and Abdul Iyiola added an insurance goal for the Panthers.  Deakon Haines made 9 saves and Connor Jones made 2 saves.  The Panthers then beat Florence High School on Thursday, 3-0.  Abdul Iyiola scored twice while Jase Jennings added a goal to lead the attack for the Panthers.  Deakon Haines made 5 saves to earn the shutout victory for the Panthers.  The boys are now 3-0 on the season and will host Group 3 Timber Creek today for their next match.

The Girls Soccer Team had a 2-1 week.  The girls opened their week with a 6-0 thrashing of Bordentown High School.  Mikayla Mangano had 3 goals to lead the attack.  Callie Carr, Ellie McCarron and Riayn DiMeo each scored once for the Panthers.  Ellie McCarron also added 3 assists.  Maeve O’Connell made 3 saves to earn the shutout victory.  The girls lost a hard-fought battle against Group 2 Delran on Wednesday, 4-1.  Ellie McCarron scored for the girls.  Maeve O’Connell made 22 saves to keep the Panthers close.  On Friday the girls defeated New Egypt High School 3-1.  Mikayla Mangano scored twice, and Angelina Sauls scored once for the Lady Panthers.  The girls are now 3-1 on the season and will travel to Maple Shade tomorrow for their next match.

The Football Team travelled to Haddon Township for their game on Saturday.  In a very competitive game the boys lost 12-6.  John Latimore scored the touchdown for the Panthers.  The Panthers fell to 1-3 on the season.  The Panthers will host New Egypt High School on Friday Night at 6PM at Matt Curtis Stadium. 

The Field Hockey Team participated in their 1st varsity game in years as the program gets rebuilt!  The Panthers have started the season 0-4 and will travel to Moorestown Friends tomorrow.

The Girls Tennis Team traveled to Northern Burlington for their 1st match of the season on Tuesday.  The girls lost 5-0 against the Greyhounds.  They then traveled to Haddon Heights on Friday for their 2nd match but also came up short in a 5-0 loss.  The girls are 0-2 to start the season and will travel to the Burlington County Open on Wednesday for their next event.

The Palmyra Marching Band & Color Guard opened their competition season with a 3rd place finish at Absegami High School on Saturday.  The Marching Panthers will travel to Bordentown this Saturday for their next competition.
