BATTLE OF THE BOOKS TEAM- pictured in orange shirts in the PHS auditorium

"Battle of the Books is a national reading incentive program for students in 3rd thru 12th grades. Students read books and come together, usually in groups, to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read." (for more click Battle of the Books link)

In Burlington County, teams from the Burlington City, Burlington Twp, Cinnaminson, Delran, Eastampton, Harrington (MTL), Maple Shade, Medford Lakes, Northern Burlington, Palmyra, St Mary of the Lakes, Tabernacle, and Westampton Schools met at Northern Burlington Regional Middle School on Tuesday, April 25th. Each team brought 6 members who had spent the last six months reading from a booklist of 15 titles. These 7th and 8th graders were asked detail-intensive questions about the books, and to correctly identify the titles and authors.

Battle of the Books is a new club for PMS this year, but for being the new kids on the block, they made a terrific showing:

  • Grace Gallagher,
  • Genevieve Ciolorito,
  • Logan Schultz,
  • Sawyer McNab,
  • Aidan Quesnel, and
  • Kayla Bohley powered their way to an impressive 4th-place finish!
Congratulations to the 7/8 Battle of the Books team and their advisor: Ms. Kate Futia, our 8th Grade Math Teacher at Palmyra Middle School!  We are #PalmyraProud!!!
