Spring Sports Athletic Banner feat Girls Track

-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports Good Day Everyone, We were dodging rain drops again last week but at least we were able to get in SOME athletic events.  Here is a look at how our teams performed:

The Baseball Team opened their season with a 1-2 week.  The boys lost a close game to Holy Cross on Monday, 2-0.  Joe Elmes struck out 13 batters in 6 and 1/3 innings.  The boys then lost 12-2 to Doane Academy on Wednesday.  Anthony Morgenstern had a hit and a run scored and Joe Elmes had an RBI.  Dean Maute was on base twice and scored the Panthers other run.  The boys were able to record their 1st win on Thursday, beating Willingboro High School 5-3.  Tom Staszak had 2 hits and an RBI.  Anthony Morgenstern had a hit and 2 RBI’s.  Carson Strobel, Brayden Minnix and Nick Adams also had hits.  Steve Peltz was the winning pitcher, pitching 4 and 2/3rd innings and striking out 7.  The 1-1 Panthers will return to action today at Riverside High School.

The Softball Team opened their season with a 1-1 week.  The girls lost 18-7 to Paulsboro on Tuesday.  Jasmine Martinez had 3 hits and scored 4 runs.  Gabby Gray and Olivia Lynch each had 2 hits and 3 RBI’s.  Jisselle Martinez had 2 hits and scored 2 runs in the game.  On Wednesday the girls demolished Riverside High School 18-7.  Olivia Lynch had 1 hit and 4 RBI’s.  Aubrey Wagner had 2 hits and scored 3 times.  Elsie Kenson and Sidney Lim also had hits.  Jasmine Martinez was the winning pitcher striking out 7 Rams.  The girls return to action today at Legion Field against Pennsauken High School.

The Boys Tennis Team opened their season with a 1-1 week.  After a 5-0 loss to Northern Burlington the boys responded with a 5-0 crushing of Pemberton High School on Thursday.  Julian Carlino won at 1st Singles(6-0, 6-1).  Richie Butler won at 2nd Singles(6-1, 6-0).  Connor McCann won at 3rd Singles(6-0, 6-0).  Jaden Jennings and Justin Smyth won at 1st Doubles(6-0, 6-0).  Jack Timlin and Nolan Falicki won at 2nd Doubles.  The boys are 1-1 on the season and will travel to Veterans Park tomorrow for the Burlington County Open.

The Spring Track & Field Teams Congratulations to the boys and girls track team on their thrashing of Burlington City. The Boys’ team won 115-25 and the Girls won 96-29. The following athletes won events in the meet:

BOYS:

  • Colin Broadbelt- 1600

  • Abdul Iyiola- 400

  • John Latimore- 110 hurdles

  • Michael Monroe- 200

  • Sam Adams- Discus

  • Joe Barben- Shot Put

  • John Latimore- Javelin

  • Jase Jennings- Triple Jump

  • Jaleel Latimore- High Jump

On Saturday the boys and girls teams ran at Cherokee High School.  Jaleel Latimore placed 2nd in the High Jump and Abdul Iyiola placed 3rd in the 400 hurdles to bring home medals.  They will run at the Woodbury Relays this Saturday, but before that The boys and girls are both 1-0 in dual meets and they will both return to action tomorrow as we host STEM Civics High School at 4PM.
