Art Club

Open to students in grades 4 and 5.  Students will learn skills necessary to produce a quality work of art.  They will explore and work with a variety of art media, crafts, and design.  Club members will also be given the opportunity to develop skills in producing visual displays for promoting art in the school.

Book Club

Book Club is open to 3rd - 4th grade students with a passion for reading.

Students will read selected books and participate in a group discussion.

Choir

with Mr. Edmonds

Open to students in grades 3, 4 and 5.  The choir will meet weekly.

Grade 3-Wednesdays am (7:30-8:15)
Grades 4&5-Tuesdays am (7:30-8:15)

Singing fundamentals and preparing for performances will be emphasized in this activity.

Special Requirements:
Open to all participants in grades 3, 4, and 5. Must have availability to perform in Spring Concert in May.    Beginning late September

Choir

Open to students in grades 4 and 5 with a rotating schedule.

The Charles Street School beginner band program is open to all students grades 4 & 5 that wish to explore the discipline of learning and creating music on concert instruments. Lessons are held on a rotating schedule during class-time and students are responsible for making up any missing work. Instrument rentals are coordinated with a third-party retailer and information is distributed upon sign-up. Sign-ups are to be held in early October and all participating students must be available for our Spring Concert in May.

Computer Club

The purpose of the computer club is to improve students’ technological literacy and educate about digital citizenship. Open to 4th and 5th grade students that love technology! Students will learn how to touch type, use a word processor, code online, program a real-life robot and more!

Drama Club

The Drama Club advisor will be visiting students in grades 4 & 5.  Participants will be required to audition for part in a drama club production.  Permission slips will be given out after auditions.

Kids for Character

with Ms. Berenato

Students in Kids for Character Club will be working with the students in the Student Council by promoting the principles of Character Counts. Students will be involved in programs including promoting the pillars of character, coordinating collections for charitable causes, and developing activities to promote Character Counts with students in the younger grades

STEAM club

Students in STEAM Club will be participating in inquiry based Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) related activities.  Students will collaborate with one another to problem solve in a supportive and fun environment.

Charles Street Student Council

with Ms. Gaffney

Students in 4th and 5th grade have the opportunity to be voted into Student Council. 

This year Student Council members will work closely with Ms. Berenato’s Kids For Character Club. Together we will develop leadership skills, develop communication and problem-solving skills, work as team members, promote school spirit and pride, and develop awareness of and involvement in the school community and beyond.

Some events we will be involved in this year:

  • CHOP Pajama Day,

  • Toys for Tots

  • The Palmyra Food Pantry Food Drive along with various other charitable organizations.

Wellness Activity

with Ms. Berenato

This club is designed to get you up and moving! This club provides children with the opportunity to increase their overall physical activity level to help meet the recommended minimum requirement of at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Make sure to come to school dressed comfortably on Wednesdays. Sneakers required.

CSS Safety Patrol

with Ms. Ruff

Safety Patrol is a club that is offered to some of the finest group of 5th graders who are chosen for this club because they demonstrate:

  • good citizenship

  • show self-discipline in and out of the classroom

  • follow the school rules

  • respect peers and adults

  • display a cooperative attitude

  • have satisfactory academic performance

  • satisfactory attendance

  • are responsible and dependable

  • and showed interest in safety patrol in 4th grade.

During their time as a safeties, members are proudly serving our school. Safety Patrol members assist the crossing guards, monitor the hallways, and assist teachers in their classrooms at both arrival and dismissal times. 

These students arrive early at their posts and stay until beyond dismissal.
